  1. Polish firms prepare to build Ukraine’s Bohdana away from Russia’s front—Kramatorsk’s howitzer heads west

Two Polish defense firms have agreed to work together on preparing production of Ukraine's Bohdana self-propelled howitzer, Ukrainian military outlet Militarnyi reported . One will build the gun and the other the truck it rides on. The deal deepens a Polish-Ukrainian venture set up last year to make the weapon in Poland. Russia keeps pushing along the front line in Donbas while striking Ukraine's cities and the factories that arm its troops. Ukraine has answered by building more of its own weapons and moving production underground. Its Bohdana howitzer went from one gun in 2022 to 40 a month by October 2025, a figure that likely counts towed versions too. A production line in Poland would add a factory for it outside Ukraine, in a NATO country. A gun maker and a truck builder PK MIL and Szczęśniak Pojazdy Specjalne signed a memorandum of understanding on 11 September 2026, company representatives told Militarnyi. They did it at MSPO, Poland's international defense industry fair in Kielce. The aim is cooperation on preparing production of the 155-mm wheeled Bohdana. PK MIL will handle the artillery part. Szczęśniak will bring its experience in designing special vehicles, integrating

  2. On Kramatorsk’s Peace Square, a Russian airstrike takes down the building that outlasted Russia’s 2014 occupation

A Russian airstrike destroyed the city executive committee building on Peace Square in central Kramatorsk late on 31 October, the head of the city's military administration, Oleksandr Honcharenko, said . The building outlasted Russia's occupation of the city in 2014, the fighting, and its liberation. Overnight, Russia sent hundreds of drones across Ukraine, wounding people from Volyn to Sumy. Russia's offensive in Donetsk Oblast grinds toward the last large cities Ukraine holds there. Kramatorsk serves as the oblast's provisional administrative center and sits about 15 km from Russian-held ground . Moscow already counts the city as its own: it included Kramatorsk in a district for Russia's parliamentary elections. Strikes on its center hit the institutions that keep the city Ukrainian. "The foundation of Ukrainian Kramatorsk" Honcharenko called it "the central building of Ukrainian statehood in Kramatorsk." He wrote that it held the city's history and its plans. " One can destroy a building, burn out our land, and steal memories. But they will not destroy our right to a future ," Honcharenko wrote. 3. Ukrainian forces ‘hunt down’ and kill Russian nuclear plant worker

Zaporozhye power plant management has accused Kiev of seeking to intimidate its staff A Ukrainian drone strike has killed a worker while he was traveling to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, the Russian facility’s management reported on Friday morning. The statement described Thursday’s attack as “barbarism” and part of a “hunt” targeting plant personnel. “Strikes such as this one not only affect particular people. They are designed to intimidate plant workers, seed panic and tensions among those who ensure the atomic site operates safely every day,” it said. Russia’s nuclear energy agency Rosatom mourned the death of the worker, who was employed as a welder and was traveling to work on an e-scooter when he was targeted. The incident was first reported on Thursday by Maksim Pukhov, the mayor of the city of Energodar, near which the Zaporozhye NPP is located. He identified the victim as a man in his early 40s but did not mention his connection to the plant. 6. A Russian disinformation campaign cloned Euromaidan Press to blame Ukraine for Russia’s own strike on Kramatorsk (we took the fake down)

Euromaidan Press has been impersonated as part of a Russian disinformation campaign. A copycat website was created, with a hyphen added to our name, which published a fabricated article alleging a Ukrainian drone had killed civilians in Kramatorsk that cites anonymous "Ukrainian OSINT channels" amid copies of our real news reports. In reality, that 8 October strike was a Russian aerial bombing of two public buses that killed 33 civilians . The fabrication is part of a years-long Russian disinformation campaign to impersonate and clone trusted news brands, predominantly in Europe, and publish false reports under their names. The disinformation research project Gnida tied our case to Storm-1516, one of several overlapping Russian operations, alongside the older Doppelganger, and NewsGuard, which reached out to us while preparing its own debunk, attributes the fake to the same operation. The fabricated Kramatorsk report comes amid an ongoing effort to erode Western support for Ukraine, as Russia's war goes on, and to sow distrust among Western political elites. Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) warned that Russia may stage sabotage in Central and Eastern Europe, including the Baltic states, and blame Ukraine for the attacks, in a Telegram post on 23 October.
